How do we test the best 4K laptop?
Before each laptop falls into the hands of our testers, we have conducted extensive performance tests on it, both synthetic and real. We measure all aspects of a laptop, including performance, battery life, display, speakers, and temperature regulation.
For testing purposes, we used a Klein K10 colorimeter to determine the brightness and sRGB color space of the laptop screen. For performance benchmarks, we ran many benchmarks, including Geekbench 4.3 and 5.0 benchmarks and 3DMark professional graphics benchmarks.
In order to determine the actual performance, we asked the laptop to convert the 4K video to 1080p and copy a 4.97GB media file. Our current graphics test is the Dirt.3 benchmark, with a medium setting of 1080p.
15-minute full-screen video and temperature measurement in different areas of the laptop. Last but not least, our battery test included continuous surfing through WLAN with a brightness of 150 cd/m2. For MacBooks and advanced laptops with Windows 10, running for more than 9 hours is considered good, while gaming laptops and workstations that can run for more than 5 hours are commendable.
These tests were supplemented by a large number of manual tests conducted by our testers, who criticized everything from the material of the laptop to the feel of the touchpad.
